This lecture by Joseph Farrell will introduce the specific challenges and opportunities of translating Italian plays, with a focus on the delicate process of translating dialects and on masters of modern Italian theatre such as Dario Fo and Eduardo De Filippo.
Joseph Farrell is Emeritus Professor of Italian at the University of Strathclyde and author of A history of Italian theatre, as well as of several publications on Dario Fo, Luigi Pirandello, Leonardo Sciascia, Vincenzo Consolo, Carlo Levi, and Carmelo Bene among others.
