In his novel Il segreto di Pietramala, Andrea Moro, linguist, essayist and winner of the Flaiano Literary Prize 2018, explores the illusion of fictional languages.
The linguist Elia Rameau is sent to Corsica on a special mission: he must collect data on the language spoken in the small mountain village of Pietramala. Once he reaches Pietramala, Rameau is suddenly confronted with unexplainable mysteries: why is the village uninhabited? Why have all the written traces of its language disappeared? Why are there no children’s graves?
