From 13th to 19th November 2023, the 8th edition of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World will be celebrated around the world.

As part of a series of events organized by the Italian Embassy in Ireland in collaboration with the ITA-ICE Agency, ENIT, IIC DUBLIN, the Italian-Irish Chamber of Commerce, on November 15th at 6.15 pm you are cordially invited to the screening of the film Gualtiero Marchesi: The Great Italian on the figure of chef Gualtiero Marchesi who revolutionized and re-founded Italian cuisine over the last fifty years.

It will also be an opportunity to taste some tasty specialties live during the toast that will follow the screening.

Participation is free, but booking is essential via this page.

Due to the limited number of places available, five days before the event, the Institute will reach out to the registered participants via email asking them to reply to the email confirming their participation to the screening. ABOUT THE FILM

Gualtiero Marchesi: The Great Italian (2018) (80’) directed by Maurizio Gigola. In Italian with English subtitles.

A film to celebrate the greatest Italian chef ever: Gualtiero Marchesi. The film traces the life and thoughts of the man who revolutionized Italian cuisine, bringing it to the top of international gastronomy. A life that starts in the 1930s, at the time that Albergo Mercato in Milan was managed by his family, then the escapes to San Zenone, his place of origin, and then the years traveling around the world, in particular in France, during his apprenticeship. Finally, the return to Milan in the 70s and the opening of his legendary restaurant, in via Bonvesin de la Riva, the first one in Italy to obtain three Michelin stars in 1985.

 

ABOUT GUALTIERO MARCHESI

Gualtiero Marchesi (19 March 1930 – 26 December 2017) was an Italian chef, unanimously considered the founder of the new Italian cuisineand, in the opinion of many, the most famous Italian chef in the world. He’s the one who has contributed most to the development of Italian cuisine, placing the Italian culinary culture among the most important around the world, with the creation of the Italian version of the French nouvelle cuisine.

 

ABOUT THE WEEK OF ITALIAN CUISINE IN THE WORLD

The eighth edition of the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World, Settimana della Cucina nel Mondo, takes place in Ireland from Monday, 13th November to Sunday, 19th November, 2023. Presented by the Embassy of Italy in Ireland, the Italian Trade and Investment Agency (ITA), and the Italian Irish Chamber of Commerce (IIC), and in collaboration with the Italian National Tourist Board (ENIT) and the Italian Institute of Culture, this edition focuses on healthy food inspired by Mediterranean diet and is titled: At the Table with Italian Cuisine: Health with Taste.

The Week of Italian Cuisine in the World is a joyous and culturally enriching annual celebration that takes the essence of global gastronomy to new heights. Weaving together culinary legacies and practices, gastronomic exploration, flavours, techniques, and captivating food stories, The Week of Italian Cuisine in the World is for food lovers, as well as accomplished chefs, cultural enthusiasts, and leaders in the food, hospitality, and restaurant industry. A celebration of diversity and unity underscored by the universal language of food, the event promotes cultural exchange and understanding.
