Founded in 27 B.C. by Marco Vipsanio Agrippa, son-in-law of Augustus, as a temple dedicated to all deities past, present and future, in the 7th century it was donated to Pope Boniface IV and was converted into a Christian basilica. Since then, it has undergone various renovations and has hosted the tombs of famous artists such as Raffaello Sanzio and two Kings of Italy with their consorts: Vittorio Emanuele II and Umberto 1.
With this virtual tour, full of curiosities and mysteries, and using fascinating aerial videos, 3D models and an immersive combination of high-resolution images, you will navigate through the ancient masterpiece as if you were walking through its historic corridors.
