“TERRANEO” GRAPHIC NOVEL PRESENTATION + CLASSIC GUITAR/FLUTE DUO CONCERT

Tuesday 4th of July 2023 at 6pm – Instituto Cervantes, 6 Lincoln Place, Dublino

Within the “Mediterranean July” – a cultural celebration of Mediterranean nations promoted by the Spanish Embassy in Ireland – Marco Gioacchini (Istituto Italiano di Cultura) will interview the Italian authors of the graphic book “Terraneo”, Vincenzo Del Vecchio and Marino Amodio.

The encounter will be enriched by musical interludes with pieces by Italian and Spanish composers performed live by young musicians Jamie Gogan (guitar) and Valentine Laporte (flute).

“TERRANEO”

Imagine this: the Mediterranean once was a land, not a sea. It was an island, where all peoples lived together, surrounded by the sea. ”Terraneo”, published in Italian and in Spanish, is a book that reinvents the myth of the Mediterranean and of Mediterranean peoples. It is a book for those who love illustration and mythology, for children and grown-ups alike. But it is also a fable on what it is that binds the destinies of the lands touched by the Mediterranean, a journey of discovery of the invisible cities on its shores and of the spirits of those inhabiting them now and then.

Some copies of the book in Italian and in Spanish will be available onsite for purchase.

The event will be hosted at the Instituto Cervantes of Dublin. Free entry.

Event in English (Italian and Spanish)

THE AUTHORS

Marino Amodio was born in 1989 in Naples, where he works as an architect. He is the founder of ZAPOI, a graphic design studio and collective of architects. He is right-handed, and yet no one can read his handwriting. Terraneo is his first book.

Vincenzo Del Vecchio was born in 1989; in 2016 he graduated in Architecture with a project consisting in a series of drawings inspired by Italo Calvino’s Invisible Cities. He is now a graphic designer and illustrator, and he loves staying up all night to draw, for work or for fun.

Together, for Gallucci editore, they have published two more picture books: Gli abitanti delle nuvole and Alva. Vincenzo Del Vecchio has illustrated a new edition of Raffaele La Capria’s Colapesce, also published by Gallucci.
