“September” (104′) is an Italian film from 2022 directed by Giulia Steigerwalt and starring Barbara Ronchi, Fabrizio Bentivoglio, and the singer and actress Thony.
The story unfolds during a September day, where three characters realize that the life they find themselves in is not the one they dreamed of. That happiness is a distant yet still possible idea. It is a choral, delicate, and poetic tale that explores human relationships, the depth of our nature, made up of meticulous gestures and internal revolutions, and the search for a more authentic connection between people.
From the author of successful screenplays such as “Moglie e Marito,” “Croce e Delizia,” and “Il Campione,” this film marks her directorial debut. It is characterized by existential melancholy, tight dialogues, and great expressive freedom.
