UN GIORNO SPECIALE

“Un giorno speciale” (“A Special Day”, 89′) is an Italian 2012 film directed by Francesca Comencini.

The film tells the story of Gina, a young girl from the outskirts of Rome who dreams of becoming an actress. Persuaded by her mother to meet with a politician who could help her in the entertainment industry, Gina eagerly prepares for the meeting. However, the day takes an unexpected turn when she ends up spending the entire day with Marco, the politician’s driver, a young man on his first day of work. Despite their initial coldness, the two spend the day exploring Rome, discovering a mutual attraction…

The film, starring Giulia Valentini and Filippo Scicchitano, was presented at the 69th Venice International Film Festival.

The film will be screened in Italian with English subtitles and will be preceded by an analysis of the director’s context and work.

ABOUT

Francesca Comencini is a talented Italian director, born in Rome in 1961. The daughter of the renowned director Luigi Comencini, she inherited from her family an innate passion for cinema. Her career is distinguished by her ability to tackle complex themes with sensitivity and emotional depth. Her films range from intimate dramas to social narratives, exploring the inner dynamics of human relationships with insight and delicacy. Among Francesca Comencini’s most notable works are films such as “Le parole di mio padre” and “Lo spazio bianco”, which have received widespread acclaim from critics and audiences alike, confirming her status as a prominent director in the Italian and international film scene.
