“The Vegetarian” is a 2019 movie directed by Roberto San Pietro. It tells the story of Krishna, a young Indian immigrant, son of a Brahmin, who lives in the countryside of Emilia Romagna and works as a milker. When an unproductive cow seems to be destined to the slaughterhouse, Krishna will be faced with a difficult choice, which will force him to re-assess the cultural traditions of his home country, which posits respect for all living things.
