The Polish “Meninas Duo”, who won in May 2019 the 1st prize of the International Competition “Homage to Niccolo Paganini” in Parma, will perform at the Hugh Lane Gallery an engaging programme of lyrical arias and Christmas folk songs.
Composed of opera singer Ewelina Koniec and guitarist Bianka Szalaty, the Meninas Duo was founded in 2015 at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen. The duo is a combination of warm mezzosoprano tone and traditional classical guitar timbre. Present repertoire comprises classical arrangements of traditional Spanish and Polish folk songs, English renaissance music, American contemporary works as well as jazzy standards.
In collaboration with the Embassy of Poland in Irleland.
