The Italian Institute of Culture is delighted to host an evening dedicated to the designation of Galway as European Capital of Culture 2020. This event will be an occasion to celebrate the connection between Italy and Ireland by revisiting the cultural momentum that the European Capital of Culture programme has brought to the city of Matera, in Italy, which held the title in 2019.
Exclusive guests include Rossella Tarantino, Development and Relations Manager of the Foundation Matera-Basilicata 2019, whose commitment to local projects on development empowered by creativity came to the forefront thanks to the opportunities offered by the Capital of Culture endorsement.
Cultural producers of Galway 2020, Craig Flaherty and Kate Howard, will also take the stage to discuss how the Irish city of Galway will be delivering its role as European Capital of Culture at the Edge of Europe, following the themes of Language, Landscape and Migration.
The event will include a musical interlude, courtesy of Music for Galway, cultural partner of Galway 2020.
You will be most welcome to join us to learn more about the extraordinary city of Matera and what promises to be an exciting year ahead for Galway. Do not miss this unique opportunity to engage with pivotal players in the Irish and Italian cultural arenas and please spread the word amongst anyone who might be interested!
The event is free, however we recommend booking a seat through the link below.
