‘Fare Cinema’ is the festival dedicated to Italian cinema abroad promoted by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, ANICA, ICE Agency and Istituto Luce – Cinecittà.
The fourth edition, entitled ‘Reboot – Italian cinema restarts’, will be held from the 14th to the 20th of June 2021: it underlines the extraordinary ability to react shown by the Italian film industry in the face of the pandemic crisis, and it presents a specific focus dedicated to the ‘film making crafts‘. Also this year ‘Fare Cinema’ takes place online – on italiana and on the MyMovies platform, with a series of original productions realised with the partners of the initiative, and in presence thanks to the events organized by the network of Italian Embassies, Consulates and Cultural Institutes in the world.
Here is the list of events of Fare Cinema 2021:

The protagonists of the Italian film industry speak out in a series of short clips and online meetings. In collaboration with the Fondazione Cinema per Roma, curated by Mario Sesti, Reboot presents a snapshot of the state of the art of cinema and its professions in Italy today; the two videos in The new embrace of cinema take us back to the difficult moment we have experienced in recent months and the challenges thrown at the world of cinema by the pandemic. The videos and the encounters are available on Vimeo.

Alida Valli and Lina Wertmüller, Federico Fellini and Luchino Visconti, Dante Ferretti and Nino Rota. These are some of the protagonists of Oltre lo schermo, the event organized in collaboration with the Audiovisiva platform, which brings a selection of fifteen documentaries on the professions of cinema to streaming, available free of charge to an international audience through the network of Italian Cultural Institutes and the portal italiana. The films will be available from June 14 until July 25.
CORTI D’AUTORE
Six views for a new narrative of Italy in the world
Developed in partnership with ANICA, the Corti d’Autore project has led to the creation of six unpublished short films focused on different artistic and creative macro-areas: from design to literature (on the occasion of the 700th anniversary of the death of Dante Alighieri), from live entertainment to the care of cultural heritage. The entire cycle will be made available on the Vimeo channel of the portal italiana (where the shorts will remain available even after the conclusion of the review).
BIOPIC TV
Stories of entrepreneurship and excellence
In collaboration with RAI Com and MoviHeart, the Fare Cinema program is enriched by two dramas that highlight the creative and entrepreneurial capacity of our country and that received excellent feedback from the public following their television release: Enrico Piaggio, un sogno italiano (2019) with Alessio Boni and Violante Placido, dedicated to the life of the Tuscan entrepreneur, and Luisa Spagnoli (2016) with Luisa Ranieri, a two-part miniseries on the biography of the founder of Perugina. Both titles will be available from June 14-20 on MyMovies.
