In the context of the International Conference “Italo Calvino and World Culture: A Hundred-Year Legacy”, you are warmly invited to attend the theatrical reading, “Il Molteplice Calvino”, curated and performed by Italian actress Cloris Brosca.
This theatrical reading explores Italo Calvino’s oeuvre and joins together biographical notes – taken from short-stories, letters or interviews – with selected passages from the writer’s acclaimed novels and some of his little known texts. We wish that, on this very special anniversary of Calvino’s birth, IL MOLTEPLICE CALVINO will contribute to spark or rekindle the audience’s desire of reading or re-reading Calvino’s stories.
The event will be in Italian with English translation.
Free admission upon registration here.
Cloris Brosca is an actress, author, director. A graduate of the “Silvio D’Amico” National Academy of Drama, she began her acting career in 1976, at nineteen years of age, with a memorable production of “The Merry Wives of Windsor” directed by Orazio Costa (starring Tino Buazzelli). Over the following years, Cloris worked for the theatre, cinema and television with Eduardo De Filippo, Maurizio Scaparro, Ugo Gregoretti, Gigi Proietti, Gabriele Lavia, Massimo Troisi, Giuseppe Tornatore, Leo Gullotta, Aldo Trionfo, Mariano Rigillo, Nadia Baldi, Memè Perlini, Ugo Margio, Ennio Coltorti, Marcello Cotugno.
In the mid to late 1990s, Cloris Brosca became known to a wide audience as the fortune-teller of a popular television show on RAI 1, LA ZINGARA. Since then, she kept collaborating with RAI, acting in several TV series.
However, it is on the theatrical stage that Cloris Brosca performs at her best: an actress in classical and contemporary plays, she has also curated and directed events combining poetry, literature and music. As well as being a reader at the Intercontinental Festival of Mediterranean Literature, created and directed by Professor Filippo Bettini, in recent years she has curated and delivered several readings for the Goethe Institute, the European Library and the Libraries of Rome. Among her latest productions is the show PERCORSI DELL’ANIMA, which she has composed and directed for the Park of the Ligurian Alps, featuring texts by Ligurian writers and poets from the Riviera di Ponente.
