The second film of the new series LUNEDI AL CINEMA live 2023 is “Divorce italian style” (1961) by Pietro Germi (105′).
Presented in competition at the 1962 Cannes Film Festival, it won the prize for best comedy and also obtained three Oscar nominations, winning the award for best original screenplay.
A Sicilian baron, Ferdinando Cefalù, falls in love with Angela, a sixteen-year-old cousin who loves him back. The only “obstacle” to the crowning of the dream of love is represented by the petulant Rosalia, her wife, but the arrival in town of the painter Carmelo Patanè, old lover of the lady, will help to sort things out.
