LUNEDÌ AL CINEMA DAL VIVO Film Screening Of The “Patria” By Felice Farina (‘87)

Monday 8 May at 6pm – Istituto Italiano di Cultura, Sala Pavilion

“Patria” (Homeland) is a 2014 film directed by Felice Farina (87′) Yet another factory in the Turin area closes and fires, destroying jobs, certainties and identities. The worker Salvatore Brogna climbs the factory tower in protest and out of anger, threatening to throw himself down.

Giorgio, a trade union representative, of opposite political tendencies to Salvo, intervenes in an attempt to make him change his mind. The caretaker visually impaired and autistic, hired as a protected category, joins them on the tower to keep them company.

On this night, abandoned by everyone and desperately waiting for some journalist to arrive, the three very different characters retrace the last thirty years of the country’s life: years of wasted opportunities, of betrayed hopes, of crimes and massacres, of turnarounds and games of power.

The film was shot on location in Turin for the outdoor scenes and in Rome, Cinecittà, Teatro 2.

The film will be screened in Italian with English subtitles.
