Monday 12 May, we look forward to welcoming many of you to our Institute for the screening of the film “Sembra mio figlio” (2018) by Costanza Quatriglio. Admission is free, but reservations are required—book your spot below.
THE PLOT: After fleeing Kabul as a child, Ismail now lives in Trieste with his brother Hassan, who still suffers both physically and psychologically from the abuse he endured at the hands of the Taliban. Their mother, who remained in Afghanistan, refuses to answer his questions—but perhaps she is being prevented from doing so by the man who claims to be her new husband. Ismail then decides to return to his homeland to look for her. His journey, first through Pakistan and then into Afghanistan, broadens his personal story into the wider tragedy of the Hazara people.
