Patrizia Monaco is a multi-award-winning playwright and critic from Genoa in Italy, whose works have been performed and broadcast in many countries. From 1978 to 1981 she taught Italian at UCD and she is a regular visitor to Ireland.
Una faccenda di cuore, an homage to Daniel O’Connell, is a monologue about the enigma of his Italian afterlife. He died in Genoa on 15th May 1847 and his heart was buried in Rome but now appears to be lost. Monaco provides an ironic take on the enigma. It will be performed, in Italian, by Eric Haywood and directed by Mary Casey.
