XXIII Week of the Italian Language in the World – Italian and Sustainability
October 16th-22nd, 2023
The “Week of the Italian Language in the World” is an initiative to promote the Italian language carried out by the cultural and diplomatic network of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation under the High Patronage of the Presidency of the Republic. Every year it celebrates the Italian language and creativity in the world.
The initiative, born in 2001 in collaboration with the Accademia della Crusca, takes place in the third week of October with the support of the Ministry of Culture, the Ministry of University and Research , the Swiss Government and the main partners in linguistic promotion.
The XXIII edition will take place from 16th to 22nd October 2023 and the theme will be “Italian and Sustainability”.
The aim of the event is to promote throughout the world and through the Italian language, the culture of sustainability.
Below you find the program of events organized by our Institute on the occasion of the 23rd Week of the Italian Language in the World.
From 20th September to 16th October 2023
“A Podcast in Italian” – Competition for University students
Students of Italian in Irish universities can participate by recording an audio podcast, max 5 minutes in duration, on the theme of “Italian and Sustainability”.
The winners will be premiered in Dublin and interviewed in a radio episode of “Luna Park Dublin FM” during which the podcast will be broadcasted.
Monday 16th October, from 10:15am to 8.30pm
Student of Italian Day at the Institute of Culture
An open day dedicated to the students of Italian of our Institute, with free conversation classes, language table games, screening of documentaries in our Pavilion Hall, breakfast together and library tours.
Tuesday 17th October, 6pm
A pensioner realises one day that four-million franks have erroneously been deposited on his account and takes an unprecedented decision.
Event organized thanks to the Swiss Embassy in Ireland.
At the end of the screening the Swiss Embassy will offer drinks to the participants.
Wednesday 18th October, from 9pm to 10pm
Special radio broadcast on “Luna Park Dublin FM”
Episode in Italian dedicated to the Week of Italian Language in the World with interviews of teachers, students and their relationship with Italian.
The winners of the student podcast contest will be hosted in transmission and their audio contributions will be put on air. In Italian.
