30 + 1: Italo Calvino

A commemoration of Italo Calvino (who died in 1985), seen as an influentially international writer, deeply intercultural, linked intertextually to traditions such as the Renaissance and Modernism, and open to the future to the point of anticipating post-human concerns. Some presentations on Calvino’s work will be followed by readings in English, Chinese and Italian from his work.

7.00 pm. Eric Haywood. Reading of a passage in English from one Calvino’s works preceded by a short introduction.
7.15 pm. Lihong Li. Reading of a passage in Chinese from one of Calvino's works.

7.30 pm. Renata Sperandio. Greetings from the Italian Institute of Culture, and reading of a passage in Italian from one of Calvino's work.
