Lunedì al cinema
La meglio gioventù - Second part
In Italian with Italian subtitles

La meglio gioventù is a 2003 Italian film directed by Marco Tullio Giordana. The title is inspired by Pier Paolo Pasolini’s collection of poems of the same name. The film traces contemporary Italian history through the story of the Carati family from 1966 to 2003. The film follows two brothers, Matteo and Nicola, on their journey from their wild youth in the mid-1960s counterculture to parenthood and retirement in the early 2000s.

In the second part of La meglio gioventù we discover the different choices made by the Carati brothers. Nicola studies medicine in Turin against a background of student protests and embarks on a passionate love story with Giulia. Matteo has abandoned his literary studies and has joined the police force faced with the task of repressing the student movements in which Nicola is involved.
