Lunchtime Concerts at the IIC: Concert for soprano and piano Katy Kelly (soprano) and Annalisa Monticelli (piano)

On the 26th of May the IIC will host the third in a series of free “Lunchtime concerts” (about 45 min. long) which will take place between 1.00 and 2.00 pm in the Pavilion room in our Institute.

Pianist Annalisa Monticelli and soprano Katy Kelly will interpret arias from operas in Italian, pieces from the work of  composer Michele Esposito and Irish music.

Katy Kelly and Annalisa Monticelli will combine their background and musical experiences into a wonderful serenade of Opera Arias, Songs and Lullabies.

The concert will commence with opera arias, continue with compositions by Italian composers Michele Esposito inspired by the Irish tradition and using the lullaby as inspiration, and will conclude with traditional Irish songs and Lullabies.

Annalisa Monticelli

Annalisa Monticelli is a highly sought-after musician, having performed internationally as a soloist, with ensembles and various orchestras. She studied Classical, Latin-American and Jazz Piano, Voice, Conducting, Chamber Music and Music Education in Italy, Argentina, and the USA.

As a student, she won numerous international Chamber competitions and performed expensively in Italy, where she completed a Masters in piano, Music education and post-graduate certificates in Chamber music (Academia di Fiesole) and Advance Piano (with Mtro. Daniel Rivera).

After spending 3 years in America, she moved to Ireland to work as an instrumental accompanist for the Royal Irish Academy of Music where she later became Italian diction coach and vocal coach. In 2015 she became Assistant Lecturer-repetiteur at Dundalk Institute of Technology where she also served as Music Program Director and now serves as Program Director for the new Musical theater program launching in September 2022.

Since her arrival to Ireland, she has appeared in all major Irish venues and has released several CDs and In recent years she taught and performed in Warsaw, Zurich, Vilnius, Glasgow, Paris, Johor Bahru (Malaysia) and toured the USA. She also collaborates regularly with INO as an Italian Diction coach.

She is an eclectic musician, that loves performing classical music alongside Tango, Jazz and Latin-American Music; both as a pianist and a singer. She is also a PhD candidate in Tu Dublin where she researches Michele Esposito and his Dublin based piano school di lui.

Katy Kelly

Katy Kelly studied for her Graduate Performance Diploma in Opera at the Boston Conservatory. She qualified as a Regional Finalist at the Metropolitan Opera New England National Council Awards (USA), and has won many prizes for her singing in Europe, including the IAWS John McCormack Bursary.

Operatic performances include “Donna Anna” in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, “Countess” in Le Nozze di Figaro, Königin der Nacht in Die Zauberflöte, and Le Feu/Le Rossignol in Ravel’s L’enfant et les Sortilèges, “Euridice” in Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice, “Musetta” in Puccini’s La Boheme, and “Sandman” in Humperdinck’s Hansel & Gretel. Other solo performances include Poulenc's Gloria, Rutter's Magnificat, Bach's St John Passion, Beethoven's Mass in C, Bach's Magnificat, Dvořák's Stabat Mater, Mozart's Requiem & Vesperae Solennes de Confessore, Haydn's The Creation & Nelson Mass, Handel’s Messiah, Saint-Saens’ Oratorio de Noel, and Mendelssohn’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream & Elijah, across the USA,Europe & Ireland.
