The audience will be asked to vote for their favourite film after the screenings. A Polish and an Irish short film will be presented out of competition.  Film 1 Presented by the Istituto Italiano di Cultura In collaboration with the Centro Nazionale del CortometraggioOffice KingdomAnimation, Director: Salvatore Centoducati, Eleonora Bertolucci, Giulio De Toma and Ruben Pirito, Italy 2014, 7 min. What the heck is the clerk of a public office doing, when she disappears for hours behind the counter, with your document in her hands? In a public office a customer waits for the approval of his document… The film takes a look at bureaucracy from a different perspective. Salvatore Centoducati (Altamura, 28/10/1984), Eleonora Bertolucci (Conegliano, 26/04/1991), Giulio De Toma (Canosa 8/8/1998) and Ruben Pirito (2/12/1989), all specialized in animated cinema at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia – National Film School in 2013. “Office Kingdom” is their graduation film.  Film 2 Presented by the British CouncilA ConfessionLife Action, Director: Petros Silvestros and Andrea Allen, United Kingdom 2015, 9 min. A mysterious and damaged young man must confess a terrible sin. What he reveals to the warm hearted priest resonates way beyond the confines of the Church – calling into question a relationship that has lasted over 1500 years. Born in 1979 and based in London, Petros studied film at the London Film School. His films demonstrate a pronounced preference for suspense and have been awarded and screened at numerous international festivals. He won twice the Crystal Bear for Best Short Film at the Berlin International Film Festival in two consecutive years for his short films “ʼMike” and “A Confession”.  Film 3 Presented by the Austrian EmbassyLoveStatementsAnimation, Director: Maria Weber, Austria 2013, 6 min. A declaration of love. Maria Weber attempts nothing less in her animated documentary “LoveStatements”, in which she has a wide variety of individuals philosophize about being in love. In terms of the visuals they are represented by animated alter egos. Rather than protecting the protagonists’ identities through anonymity, this reflects the playful way in which plasticine, sand and mixed-media animations deal with the statements. Born in Salzburg/Austria Maria Weber studied Sculpture and Art Pedagogics at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna from 1997 until 2002. She is working as an independent filmmaker in Italy and Austria, specializing in Participatory Video. Since May 2011 she is working at the Creative Media Technologies department at the University for Applied Science in St. Pölten.  Film 4 Presented by the Instituto Cervantes Preferential TreatmentLife Action, Director: Carlos Polo, Spain 2014, 4 min. Paquita, a naïve and friendly oldie, is not going to stay helpless when her banker tells her she has lost all her money because of some ‘safe at first sight’ financial products she had brought… products offered previously by the banker. A short and hilarious story narrated in a dark comedy tone. “Preferential Treatment” has been selected for more than 25 international festivals. Carlos Polo (born in Spain in 1974) has oriented his career to the audiovisual arena since 1998. He has participated in the creation of advertising campaigns for companies such as Iberia or Citroën, his contribution goes from the production of short films to web design and development. In a nutshell: a creative mind.  Film 5 Presented by the Goethe-Institut At the DoorLife Action, Director: Miriam Bliese, Germany 2013, 5 min. A man comes to pick up his son at his ex-wife’s house, like every weekend. As always, he waits at the entrance of her apartment for his son to come downstairs. But this Saturday, it takes a little longer. Their son wants to finish watching a TV show. And so it happens that the separated couple starts to talk to each other again. Miriam Bliese was born 1978. She studied German Studies, Philosophy und Music while working as a director and director´s assistant in different theatres. She worked as a freelance writer for ARTE and as a director´s assistant for documentaries. She began studying directing at the dffb in 2005.  Film 6 Presented by the Alliance Française The KissLife Action, Director: Stéfan Le Lay, France 2005, 4 min. A young woman is meeting a young man to share their first kiss together. However, a cinematic moment in its purest form will forever prevent their love from materializing. Stéfan Le Lay has directed 5 short films (“Le Baiser”, “La Carte”, “Mon papa à moi”, “Nulle Part”, “Les Lacets”) that combined have received more than 90 awards. He is also the director of a multitude of films for French television and the scriptwriter for two feature films, the latest of which “Le Gardien” – winner of the Groupe Ouest and the Ciné foundation Gan – is currently searching for funding.Out of Competition Presented by the Cork Film Festival Woolen CogwheelsAnimation, Director: Bartek Kędzierski, Poland 2014, 13 min. An ageing couple Aniela and Konstanty lead a quiet life together. She gives herself over to knitting while he eagerly works on some invention. Although their everyday life seems extremely well-organized there is something deeply lacking. This award winning puppet animation by Bartosz Kędzierski is a moving story of loneliness, longing and human attachment. Bartosz Kędzierski was born in 1976 in Wrocław. He studied Film Directing at the Radio and TV Faculty of University of Silesia. He gained recognition in Poland with his animated series “Lordz of Flys”. Kędzierski has also created other animated series, which were broadcasted by many TV channels. He works as director and screenwriter.Out of Competition Presented by the Irish Film Institute CodaAnimation, Director: Alan Holly, Ireland 2014, 9 min. Alan Holly’s beautifully designed hand drawn animation tells the story of a lost soul who stumbles drunkenly through the city. In a park, death finds him and shows him many things. Shortlisted for the 2015 Academy Awards and nominated for an Annie Award, the film has garnered eighteen awards during its international festival run which has included OIAF, Encounters, LIAF, Aesthetica Short Film Festival and Anima Mundi. Alan Holly is a Dublin based artist and filmmaker. He studied animation and has been working in various roles in the industry since 2005.
