masterclass with Francesco Zurlo and Alex Terzaiol
Masterclass on the Italian Design Network with the students of the Institute of Technology in CarlowAlex Terzariol graduated at the European Institute of Design in Milan with a degree on automotive in collaboration with Fiat Auto Design Centre.In 1987 he started his professional activity with designer Rodolfo Bonetto. Since 1991 he has been senior designer responsible for important projects for consumers and investments’ goods and in the automotive sector.In 1990, in London, he won the first price for the competition “Plastic on the Road”.In 1991 he founded the MM DESIGN in Bolzano specialized in Industrial Design and Product Engineering. The studio works with many international companies in different industrial fields.In 2013 MM DESIGN studio opened a new office in San Paulo Brazil.MM DESIGN won many international design awards such as the German Design Price in 2015, the iF Award in 2015, the Compasso d`Oro in 2014, the Best of The Best Red Dot in 2011 and the ADI Design Index and Good Design in Tokyo in 1999.Alex Terzariol teaches at the European Design Institute in Milan and Sao Paulo Brazil, at the Design Academy in Bolzano and at the IUAV University in Venice. From 2009 to 2014 he has been President of the ADI Delegation in North-East Italy and he is now member of the ADI Executive Board in Milan where he is responsible for the international activities.Francesco Zurlo holds a PhD in Industrial Design and is Full Professor of Industrial Design at the Politecnico di Milano, teaching courses in Product Design for Innovation, Product Service System Design, Fashion Design with focus on Strategic Design, Design Management, Service Design and Furniture Design. He is in charge of Research at the Design Department of the Politecnico and he is Director of the International Master in Strategic Design and of the Master of Interior Design and Management (held in China for Chinese students). He is a member of the Scientific Board of SID, Italian Design Scientific Association (Società Italiana del Design) and ADI (Italian Association for Industrial Design) INDEX 2014-2015 curator (selection of the best products made in Italy).He was director of POLI.Design Consortium of Politecnico di Milano, operating in the areas of applied research and specialized education in the design fields from 2004 to 2009.He is the author of numerous international publications about strategic design, service design, design management, and design thinking.He teaches in various Design Schools in Europe, Asia and South America.
