Pizzica is a traditional Italian dance for couples from the South of Italy (Salento-Puglia region), although in recent times its solo performance is getting very common, especially on-stage during festivals and celebrations. It is an enjoyable and dynamic couple dance, but it is also a powerful solo performance dance, enriched by its myth and healing history as “spider dance”.
Eliana Valentini (visual artist, dance teacher & performer) will guide you through the history and meaning of this traditional dance from the South of Italy, sharing her personal experience and passion. She will also teach you the basics steps and explain the rhythm and music structure.
This free workshop is suitable for 16+, no previous dance experience is required.
Duration: 40 minutes (from 19:00 to 19:40)
Room: Pavilion
Booking essential, on this website or via Eventbrite, starting from 1st September
