Dublin Gallery Weekend – Cecilia Bullo & Kevin Mooney: Silt & Sorcery

dgw

To coincide with this year’s Dublin Gallery Weekend (5-8 November), Hillsboro Fine Art has programmed an innovative pairing of two of Ireland’s leading contemporary artists.

Silt & Sorcery brings together the distinct yet resonant practices of Cecilia Bullo and Kevin Mooney. In this two-person exhibition, Celtic and Mediterranean lineages, alongside wider hybrid currents, are braided through a contemporary lens, shaping rituals of transformation, protection, and ecological entanglement.

Cecilia Bullo is a Dublin-based sculpture and installation artist, trained at IADT Dublin, Brera Fine Art Academy (Milan), and the Academy of Fine Art (Athens), with an MFA from NCAD (2009). Her multidisciplinary work draws on mythology, psychoanalysis, and ecofeminist theory, exploring the mind’s “dysfunctional beauty and horrors.” Classically trained, she works within an expanded sculptural practice using materials like aloe vera, anxiety medication, and dust from sacred sites to layer physical, ritualistic, and psychological meaning. Her rhizomatic, “chaos-magick” process builds non-linear narratives connecting ecological and human wounds, with particular focus on ritual, healing, and the displacement of migrant women. Recent exhibitions include the RHA Dublin (2023), The Dock, Leitrim (2022/3), Galerie Michaela Stock, Vienna (2022), WARP, Belgium (2022), and Hillsboro Fine Art, Dublin (2021).

Kevin Mooney is an artist based at Sample Studios Cork, trained in painting at Crawford College of Art and Design (1994–97) with an MFA from NCAD (2012). His work examines a speculative art history of the Irish diaspora through mythology, history, and cultural migration. Seán Kissane of IMMA notes his work “reimagines” selectively told histories. Recent solo shows include Revenants at IMMA (2022), Tuberclerosies at Luan Gallery (2024), and Ancestors at Hillsboro Fine Art (2025).

The Italian Institute of Culture in Dublin is delighted to support the works of the artist Cecilia Bullo for the Dublin Gallery Weekend 2026.

Cecilia’s practice will be showcased alongside Kevin Mooney at Hillsboro Fine Art gallery.
