For the third autumnal event of “Lunedì al Cinema” we will present the film “Così parlò Bellavista” (1984), a “philosophic” comedy by the Neopolitan author Luciano De Crescenzo which portrays, with unforgettable protagonists, the sterotypes found in Italy during the 80’s.
It evolves into an extremely ironic choral tale which describes the prejudices regarding the city of Napoli and its inhabitants, conveyed as characters of a theatrical play.
The plot recounts the story of a Neopolitan apartment block whose pleasant immutability is disrupted by the arrival a Milanese family. A conflict arises, with dispassionate division, between the Neopolitan philosophy of life and that pertinent to Milan.
The film will be screened in Italian with English subtitles, preceeded by an analysis on the context and works of the director.
