THE DRESS OF MEMORIES – Theatre and dance show in Italian

Thursday 16 May 2024 at 8 pm – Smock Alley Theatre – Boys’ School Exchange St Lower – Dublin

The Institute is pleased to present the Italian show “The dress of memories” written and directed by Alice Capitanio and brought to the stage by Company B, a theatrical association from Sardinia.

And the Emerald Isle is the theme of the show which revolves around the story of the island through the costumes, telling the text as multiple characters in a single narrative with a strong scenic impact.

The costume becomes the protagonist of historical episodes and personal events: love, courtship, marriage, mourning, tragic or joyful events, all embroidered and told on the fabric, to communicate to other women and the entire country the experiences of one’s life. But those embroideries, signs, fabrics, symbols and colors carry with them human and emotional stories, the manifestation of one’s mood and the poetry of existence.

Running time 50 minutes.

Compagnia B is an association founded in 2002 that carries out production activities for performative and multimedia events (art, video, cinema and theatre), under the artistic direction of Alice Capitanio. It operates mainly in the Sardinian regional territory, with frequent activities on a national and international level. What distinguishes our artistic line is the value we have always given to theatre as vector of contact and relationship between human beings. Our artistic choice focuses on one shape of interactive performance theatre, capable of putting the audience in relation to the scene, with the actors, with current issues, allowing viewers to interact with each other as part of the narrative.
