CILS exams at the Italian Institute of Culture – Dublin

!!! IMPORTANT !!!  The following information are for the exams held at the Istituto Italiano di Cultura – Dublino, 11 Fitzwilliam Square East, D02 KN81 (Dublin, Ireland). For other exam centres, please review the relevant page of the Centro CILS. 

CILS is a certification of proficiency in Italian as a foreign language offered by the Università per Stranieri di Siena. More information on this certification are available on the CILS website.

! IMPORTANT ! At the moment, we are renewing our CILS convention and we are not able to confirm if we will be able to hold the exam in June 2026.

Enrolments for the June exam are open until 1^st May 2026 so, in case we are able to offer it, we’ll publish all the information on this page.

Enrolments

Candidates can enrol to on of the available CILS exam levels. Those who are unsure about their level, they can check CILS exam samples available on the CILS website.

In order to enrol, please send the following documents to our Language Classes office (via post to: Istituto Italiano di Cultura – Dublino, Segreteria Corsi, 11 Fitzwilliam Square East, D02 KN81 – or via email to: classes.iicdublino@esteri.it):

1) The CILS enrolment form filled in (please write in capital letters). NOTES: name, date and place of birth need to correspond to the ID used to enrol; if you have already done a CILS exam in the past, please use your existing identification number (numero di matricola).
2) A copy of your identification document (passport or ID card).

IMPORTANT: In the case of candidates with special needs (e.g. physical or cognitive disabilities), these must be communicated to our exam centre at the time of registration and accompanied by relevant medical documentation. Our exam centre will then contact the CILS Centre which, after reviewing the documentation, will inform us of any compensatory measures to be applied during the exam.

Once the required documents are received, the candidate will receive via email information on how to process the payment of your exam fee. We kindly ask you to not process any payment until instructed to do so.

Please note that an exam level will be opened if the minimum required number of candidates is reached for each level, as per table below:

Exam candidates will receive all the communications in relation to the exams via email.

Exam results

You can check the exam results directly on the website of the Università di Siena at the following link.

You will have to insert your identification number (numero di matricola) and your date of birth.

In case you fail a part of your CILS exam and would like to retake that part, you can do that from the next available exam session and within 18 months by paying a partial fee, as per table below.
