CILS exams at the Italian Institute of Culture – Dublin

CILS is a certification of proficiency in Italian as a foreign language offered by the Università per Stranieri di Siena. More information on this certification are available on the CILS website.

The Italian Institute of Culture in Dublin is a recognized centre of CILS exams. More information on how to enrol and exam dates are available below.

!!! IMPORTANT !!!  The following information are for the exams held at the Istituto Italiano di Cultura – Dublino, 11 Fitzwilliam Square East, D02 KN81 (Dublin, Ireland). For other exam centres, please review the relevant page of the Centro CILS. 

Exam dates in 2025

Thursday 4th December 2025 – registrations will open in October 2025

We are currently accepting pre-registrations for the levels B1, B2 and C1 for this exam session. If you are interested in participating, please kindly fill in the exam registration form and send it to this email address (classes.iicdublino@esteri.it). Kindly note that no payment of the exam fees should be processed until instructed by us.

Enrolments

Candidates can enrol to on of the available CILS exam levels. Those who are unsure about their level, they can check CILS exam samples available on the CILS website.

In order to enrol, please send the following documents to our Language Classes office (via post to: Istituto Italiano di Cultura – Dublino, Segreteria Corsi, 11 Fitzwilliam Square East, D02 KN81 – or via email to: classes.iicdublino@esteri.it):

1) The CILS enrolment form filled in (please write in capital letters). NOTES: name, date and place of birth need to correspond to the ID used to enrol; if you have already done a CILS exam in the past, please use your existing identification number (numero di matricola).
2) A copy of your identification document (passport or ID card).

Once the required documents are received, the candidate will receive via email information on how to process the payment of your exam fee. We kindly ask you to not process any payment until instructed to do so.

Please note that an exam level will be opened if the minimum required number of candidates is reached for each level, as per table below:

Exam candidates will receive all the communications in relation to the exams via email.

Exam results

You can check the exam results directly on the website of the Università di Siena at the following link.

You will have to insert your identification number (numero di matricola) and your date of birth.

In case you fail a part of your CILS exam and would like to retake that part, you can do that from the next available exam session and within 18 months by paying a partial fee, as per table below.
