OUR LANGUAGE COURSES

CLICK HERE TO DISCOVER OUR ITALIAN CLASSES OFFER FOR AUTUMN 2025

Our courses will help you develop listening, reading, speaking and writing skills in a structured and gradual manner. Our teachers are Italian graduates with extensive experience and special qualifications in the teaching of Italian as a foreign language. Their enthusiasm and ability is known throughout Dublin and beyond.

Our sincere hope is that not only will you enjoy learning the Italian language but that you will partake in our cultural activities and promotion of Italian culture. Our programme of events includes lectures, concerts, seminars, and exhibitions. They are presented with free admission unless otherwise specified.

Our courses are structured according to the Council of Europe’s Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Level A1.1 is for total beginners and those students with a very basic knowledge of Italian. No test is required for this level.

The courses we offer are structured in such a way to allow you complete a linguistic journey from A to Z in the Italian language, up to the entry level required to study in Italian universities.

At the end of the term you can decide if you want to go ahead with the next level or if you prefer to consolidate what you have learned.

This system will make the learning experience more flexible and will allow the students to self-assess their progress.

OUR COURSE PROGRESSION

We offer ONSITE and ONLINE Extensive Courses of 30 hours : one class of 2 hours per week, for a total of 30 hours in 15 weeks

Fee: €330 for all courses – 5% discount for returning students, OAP and full-time students – on presentation of valid documentation

Our courses are structured according to the Council of Europe’s Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

Every level (A1, A2, etc.) is divided into 3 sublevels and it takes 30 hours to complete each sub-level.

Generally, courses are attended in progression (one sub-level per term) and it’s not possible to attend two sub-levels at the same time.

No test is done at the end of each sub-level and the student is automatically admitted to the next course. However, if you study Italian independently and wish to be admitted to a higher level, you can do that upon completion of an assessment test.

Upon completion of each course, we can issue a letter of attendance of the same; however these are not official documents that testify your language proficiency.

Language proficiency can be certified through an official language certification (such as CILS, CELI, PLIDA, etc.). You find more information on our webpage here: https://iicdublino.esteri.it/en/lingua-e-cultura/certificazioni/

IMPORTANT:

  • Courses are only for adults (18+)
  • Please let us know if you have any access requirements or hidden disabilities by reaching out to classes.iicdublino@esteri.it – We’ll do our best to support you
  • Please note that the A1.1 is level is for absolute beginners and no assessment test is required to enrol to this level
  • To new students that wish to join any of our classes and have previous knowledge of Italian, we always recommend taking a free assessment test, in order to make sure that they enrol in the class more suitable for their level. For higher levels, please see the “ASSESSMENT TESTS” section below
  • The online classes are held live via Zoom. Essential equipment for online classes: a computer, tablet, or smartphone (ideally with a good-sized screen for video/chat); a stable and fast enough Internet connection. Optional but recommended: headset or headphones with a microphone for clear communication; camera for face-to-face interaction.
  • If you miss one class, it’s not possible to attend another same-level class on a different day. At the end of each class, the teacher generally sends a recap email with the topics covered and the homework for the next class so that if you miss a class you can catch up with self-study.
