The Italian Institute of Culture is proud to offer Italian Language Upskilling Courses for Primary School Teachers, aimed at enhancing language competence among primary teachers and enable them to effectively teach Italian language to primary school children in stage 4 (5th and 6th class).
Our Institute will offer courses from the A2.1 level to the B1.3 (completion of B1 proficiency level), in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
These courses are facilitated by PPLI/Languages Connect and fully funded by the Department of Education and Youth under the Foreign Language Upskilling Scheme for Primary Teachers.
For Autumn 2026, our Institute will offer an A2.1 and A2.2 course, please find more information below.
Language: Italian
Mode of delivery: online only
Course duration: 30 hours online classes, from September to December 2026.
Course schedule: One evening class of 2.5 hours per week for a total of 30 hours in 12 weeks – please scroll down for detailed class calendar.
Criteria of eligibility for participants: Please note that courses will be offered only to registered primary school teachers in the Republic of Ireland.
Fee: The course will be offered free of charge to registered primary school teachers in the Republic of Ireland.
Certificate of completion: on completion of the course, a certificate of completion will be issued to the participating teachers, provided that they have attended at least 80% of the classes.

Additional information: The programme of foreign language upskilling for primary teachers, coordinated by Post-Primary Languages Ireland (PPLI), is set within the context of the implementation of the Primary Curriculum Framework (NCCA, 2023) and the updated Primary Language Curriculum (NCCA, 2024).
This initiative supports teachers in upskilling in their language of their choice to prepare for the introduction of the redeveloped Primary Curriculum Framework (PLC).

HOW TO REGISTER
Please fill in THIS FORM (please sign both pages) and complete the assessment test that you find here.
IMPORTANT: The test is made of 80 questions.
After reading carefully each question, choose the correct answer (A, B, C or D) and record it in the last page of the test (page 19).
Take all the time you need to complete the test.

We will check with PPLI your registration eligibility, correct your assessment test and let you know if you meet the criteria to participate to the course.
