Thursday 30 May 2024 from 9.00am to 6.30pm – Trinity Centre for Literary and Cultural Translation
Translators take multiple roles. They do not just produce translations. They are also reliable advocates for the books (Kroft 2021), official representatives of source authors, and active commercial forces that promote the work on social media platforms, in literary journals and at book events.
Haruki Murakami’s translators are no exception. This conference, organized by Trinity Centre for Literary and Cultural Translation in Dublin, shed light on the power to shape and influence the way his works are received and read by the readers world-wide.
Prof. Giorgio Amitrano, a prominent exponent of Japanese studies in Italy, Director of the IIC in Tokio for four year and currently a Full Professor of Japanese Language and Literature at the University Orientale in Naples, will talk about “Circuits of the Mind: Inside and Outside Murakami Haruki”.
To conclude the proceedings, this Institute will offer a toast to all attending guests.
