From June 2023 to April 2024, the Italian sculptor Davide Rivalta will be present in Ireland with 10 of his bronze works.
In the main court yard of the prestigious Dublin Castle, the bronze sculpture “Leonessa” will be accessible to the public the from the 1st of June 2023.
This sculpture will be installed within the Castle’s courtyard, with the possibility of free entry for all visitors.
The work will be accompanied by 8 buffalo sculptures and one of a horse, for the same period of time, in the garden of the Italian Ambassador in Ireland at Lucan House.
The project was made possible by the collaboration of the Galleria Nazionale di Arte Moderna e Contemporanea di Roma (National Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art of Rome) and OPW Dublin Castle.
Davide Rivalta lives in Bologna, where he was born in 1974. His favourite techniques are sculpture, drawing and painting. Some of his works are permanently exhibited in Ravenna (Palazzo di Giustizia, Autorità Portuale, Sant’Apollinare in Classe), Neuchâtel (Bibliothèque publique et universitaire, Collégiale, Place Pury), Rome (Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea, Palazzo del Quirinale and Palazzo Borromeo), Florence (Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino) and Mougins (Chapelle Notre-Dame de Vie). He has held exhibitions in art institutions and museum including: Künstlerhaus Palais Thurn und Taxis, Bregenz 2006; Galleria Nazionale d’arte Moderna e Contemporanea, Rome in 2016, 2017, 2019, 2022 e 2023; Forte di Belvedere, Florence, 2019. He also participated in the first edition of Aichi Triennale, Arts and Cities, in Nagoya, 2010 and in XXII Milan Triennale, 2019.
