Join us for an exciting new cycle of screenings of contemporary Italian films in the spaces of our Institute! From September to December 2024 we will screen 8 films in Italian with English subtitles by the best contemporary directors.
The next appointment will be Monday 2 December 2024 at 6pm for the screening of: ‘Gli uomini d’oro’ (“Golden Man”)(2019), directed by Vincenzo Alfieri.
The film will be screened in Italian with English subtitles and will be preceded by an analysis of the context and work of the director.
A gripping thriller based on a true story, following the adventures of three ordinary men involved in a heist. The plan seems perfect, but things take an unexpected turn, leading the protagonists to confront the consequences of their choice. The film explores themes such as ambition, morality and the price of success. Acclaimed for its narrative tension and direction, it won Best Film at the Rome Film Festival. A mix of adrenaline, drama and twists.

PLOT: “Gli uomini d’oro” is a 2019 film directed and edited by Vincenzo Alfieri. Set in the Turin of 1996, it tells the story of Luigi, a postal employee who, due to the Dini reform, sees the possibility of early retirement fade away. Disappointed and angry at his situation, he decides to take revenge. Together with his friend Luciano and his colleague Alvise, he plans a robbery of the cash van he has been driving for years. However, the entry of two criminals, the Wolf and Boutique, into the robbery plan complicates everything, turning the heist into something much more dangerous and unpredictable. The story unfolds in three chapters: The Playboy, The Hunter, The Wolf. The film is inspired by the true story of the 1996 Turin Post Office robbery.
THE DIRECTOR: Vincenzo Alfieri is a director, actor and screenwriter, known for his style that mixes comedy and drama. He made his film debut with the film I peggiori (2017), followed by Gli uomini d’oro (2019), a thriller inspired by a real-life robbery. In addition to his work as a director, he has participated in several television productions, consolidating his career in the Italian film scene.
