In order to collaborate with our Institute as an Italian teacher (LS/L2), you must be a tax resident in Ireland and have a PPS number. Contracts are done through a local temporary employment agency that assists us in the selection and management of temporary staff.
Below you find the necessary pre-requisites in order to apply to become a teacher at the Italian Institute of Culture – Dublin:
- Be an Italian native speaker
- Possession of a degree in humanities plus a Master in Teaching of the Italian Language as a FL/L2, or a DITALS, DILS, CEDILS or similar certification / OR: Master’s Degree in Italian Language and Culture for Foreigners
- At least 1 year experience teaching Italian as a FL/L2
- Already resident in Ireland and in possession of a PPS number

Course Description
- Student Type: Adult Groups (minimum 6, maximum 13 students)
- Levels: Elementary to Advanced (A1 to C2)
- Course Type: Language, Conversation, Culture, Special Courses (Literature, Art, Cinema, etc.)
- Delivery Method: On-site (at our Institute) or remotely (online)
- Lessons (minimum 2 hours each) are held in the following time slots: morning, afternoon, and evening.
- Dates: Courses are held from September to January during the fall semester and from February to June during the spring semester. Occasionally, courses are also offered in the summer.
- Class assignments are made on a case-by-case basis, so the number of hours per week (approximately 2 to 10 hours) and the class schedule may vary from semester to semester. A minimum number of weekly hours cannot be guaranteed.
Teacher Tasks
- Deliver courses structured by level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Familiarity with the key concepts contained therein is required for the acquisition of various language skills, including listening, reading, speaking, and writing.
- Manage teaching activities in accordance with the syllabus and reference texts adopted by the IIC and through the use of supplementary teaching materials (audiovisual aids, authentic materials, etc.).
- Update attendance records and records of teaching activities carried out.
- If requested, after completing the relevant training: CILS exam administration (as administrators or invigilators).
